Since you are hiring an agent to help you find a house, you have every right to interview agents before making a decision who you want to hire. I would ask such questions like how long have they been in the business, how many clients are they currently working with, can you have a list of references of previous clients that they have worked with. Call their references and see what they have to say about the agent. Make sure that they understand financing and can help you with a lender. And probably most important, how quickly do they return your phone calls. If you have to wait for days for them to get back to you, don't bother with that agent because they will not be responsive to your needs. And last but not least, make sure they do what they say they are going to do in the timeframe that they say they are going to do it.
