Too Tipsy to Drive after Celebrating St. Paddy's Day? CSAA's Free Tipsy Tow Takes You Home

Although St. Patrick himself wasn’t a big drinker, many people in Silicon Valley-Irish or not-consider today’s March 17th holiday a great excuse to overindulge in alcohol.

The California State Automobile Association, known as “triple A” is providing free tipsy tows for anyone too drunk to safely drive. The service is provided free to anyone, whether CSAA members or not.
Tipsy Tow is available from 6 p.m. Thursday, March 17th until 6 a.m. Friday, March 18th. All calls are first come, first served – sorry, no reservations allowed. The service is available in Northern California, Nevada and Utah.
To qualify for the free service, callers are only required to say, "I need a Tipsy Tow" to get a truck dispatched in their direction.
With AAA estimating costs of an initial DUI (Driving Under the Influence) ticket running as high as $12,000, (between fines, penalties, restitution and additional insurance costs), this number should be kept handy, especially among with under 25 age group. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics show that for crashes among drivers age 16 to 24 that involve alcohol account for about 36 percent of high way fatalities.
